Mahogany and Sycamore Chequered

This thimble has no less than 60 strips of wood required to be assembled together to make the blank assembly to produce this work of art. Ron cuts and makes his own strips of Mahogany and Sycamore for this thimble. A very exacting task in itself.

Celtic Knot Thimble.

To say that there are only 5 pieces of wood in this thimble does nothing for the detailed work in the actual thimble. From cutting his own Mahogany veneer, glueing the thimble blank up no less than 4 times is just the start of making this beautiful work of art.

Mahogany and Sycamore Steps

Again, in this Thimble Ron has shown us just what can be done with glueing strips of wood together, and the wonderful effects attainable. Ron's thimble making method just continually produces these beautiful thimbles. Each a work of art.

We are pleased to be able to introduce to the thimble collector a range of Acrylic thimbles made locally here in Girvan by
Dermot Forte, and a range of wooden thimbls made in Mahogany, Ramin and Sycamore by Ron Palmer.
Both of these series of thimbles are all very much hand made, with Dermot mixing his Acrylic colours by hand as the
material is setting to get the effect he is aiming for. While, Ron on the other hand is working to very fine tolerances with his choice of woods to be able to repeat his designs as required.
